Ante up! PokerStars Power Up play money games have a new structure

The magic "10"

Today play money games will see a new structure designed to address game length. Given feedback from players, PokerStars has recognised that the casual player wants Power Up to be faster. Right now the average game lasts for something like 15 minutes, which is too long for a lot of players (especially for mobile user ones - we'll get into that in a bit).

What's so special about 10 minutes?

PokerStars most popular variant “Spin and Go” feature a game length of around 10 mins as well as popular card games such as Hearthstone and Elder Scrolls Legends. This is because mobile players generally have a lot less time to commit to something. It is in the writers opinion that the average mobile player is willing to commit a maximum of 15 minutes per game.

The new structure

Starting stack: 1500
Ante: 5,  10,  15,  25,  40,  60
SB: 25,  50,  75, 125, 200, 300
BB: 50, 100, 150, 250, 400, 600

From our first impressions the game seems much smoother in pot size and a lot more action heavy – who doesn't like more action?

If PokerStars add this to the real money games we will need to make some changes to our preflop charts. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when that happens!

We will be testing these changes out on our Twitch stream so make sure to tune in!
