PokerStars Power Up poker's new look
It has been a quiet few months for Power Up regarding it's look, the last notable change on the visual side of the game was in late October when players were given the option to choose their own avatars. Therefore it came as no surprise when we noticed some changes whilst playing Power Up play money games tonight.
So what has actually changed?
The card backs of your opponents on the table have been changed from background gray to a dark green colour with presumably some sort of lightning design.
Another notable change comes when the power cards Intel, Engineer, Scanner are played - the shown cards are not displayed in black and white anymore, but in the same colours as on the table (red hearts, green clubs, black/white spade and blue diamond). This could prove to be very useful to players trying to determine which suit should they pick.
Last but not least, the EMP animation has been altered - we aren't 100% sure but it looks and sounds a lot like the one that is used on the mobile app. There might be other animation alterations but for now, this one stands out the most.
These changes haven't been applied to the real money games yet so it seems that PokerStars is only testing them out. But they just might be applied to the real money games soon - only time will tell. Our team member's "jlhmac's" speculation is that PS might be bringing in a customization mode for cardbacks and "skins" for avatars in lootboxes, the same system many of the popular online games implement. We'll just have to wait and see.
